RMUTT Shines on the Global Stage: A Leader in Future Textiles
At the TBIS 2025 conference, held from August 17–20, 2025, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sommai Pivsa-Art, President of Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi,was invited as a Plenary Speaker at the prestigious 18th Textile Bioengineering and Informatics Symposium (TBIS 2025) in Hangzhou, China. His keynote address, "Biodegradable Polymer Fibers for Functional and Sustainable Textiles," showcased the university's forward-thinking approach to eco-friendly materials and their critical role in shaping the future of the global textile industry, directly addressing the global goals for responsible consumption, production, and climate action.
This global recognition is a testament to RMUTT's strategic commitment to advancing global development goals through its core initiatives. President Sommai Pivsa-Art highlighted four key pillars guiding the university's development: Sustainability, which focuses on pioneering materials that support a circular economy; Innovation, which integrates advanced technologies like nanotechnology to create high-performance textiles; Cultural Identity, which preserves and modernizes Thai heritage; and Global Collaboration, which builds international partnerships to enhance R&D capabilities and global competitiveness. This comprehensive strategy reinforces RMUTT's dedication to improving quality of education and fostering sustainable industries through innovation.
The university's success was further underscored by its research team's achievement of an Outstanding Research Paper Award at the same conference. The winning paper, a collaboration between RMUTT and Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna, demonstrated an innovative approach to improving the durability of traditional natural dyes through modern chemical engineering. This accomplishment not only validates the quality of RMUTT's research on a global scale but also exemplifies the university’s ability to leverage cultural wisdom as a foundation for sustainable, market-ready innovations, aligning with its mission to build sustainable industries and communities. This dual triumph on the world stage firmly establishes RMUTT as a key player in the international textile and materials science community.
